Mike Yorkey
Author, Editor, and Speaker

Welcome Mat

Thanks for finding me! I’ve put together this web site to help you learn more about me and the books I write. That’s my wife, Nicole, and we’ve been married for thirty-three wonderful years.

Let me tell you—I love what I do. I get to play with words all day. Research interesting topics. Tell fascinating stories. Bring characters to life. Create.

I’ve been writing for a living for thirty years after getting my start at a small weekly newspaper at the California ski resort of Mammoth Lakes. Then in 1986, I received a huge break: I was hired by Focus on the Family, a Christian ministry founded by Dr. James Dobson, to be the editor of Focus on the Family magazine. I enjoyed eleven fantastic and satisfying years at Focus on the Family before moving into a freelance career as an author, editor, and speaker.

Although I’ve written a dozen books under my name, I’ve collaborated with some amazing people by writing their books for them: folks like Tim and Beverly LaHaye, evangelist Luis Palau, pop singers Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., tennis stars Michael Chang, Roscoe Tanner, and Betsy McCormack, baseball pitcher Dave Dravecky, NFL football stars Colt McCoy and Rolf Benirschke, San Diego physician Nick Yphantides (My Big Fat Greek Diet),
and Jordan Rubin of The Maker’s Diet fame.

But the professional and personal highlight has been coming alongside Fred Stoeker ever since Every Man’s Battle was released in 2000. The “Every Man’s” series—nearly a dozen books in all—is nearing 2 million in sales, but more importantly, the impact in men’s lives has been mind-boggling and humbling. To be part of influencing millions of guys staggers my imagination and is something I will treasure to the end of my days.

So thanks for looking me up! Feel free to look around my site, check out some photos, read up on my blog, and scan through some book excerpts. You’ll also find out about a couple of World War II novels that I wrote with Tricia Goyer called The Swiss Courier and Chasing Mona Lisa. They are fun, exciting thrillers.

Under the Contact Me page, you can write me an e-mail. I’ll do my best to respond as long as I can keep up.

Again, thanks for dropping by.

Eric LeGrand: the Most Courageous Person I Ever Met

Believe: My Faith and the Tackle That Changed My Life is the compelling story of Eric LeGrand, the Rutgers defensive tackle who was paralyzed on October 16, 2010 during a kickoff play against Army. Eric suffered a severe spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

I worked with Eric and his mom, Karen LeGrand, during the spring and early summer of 2012 to get this book written in time for the fall college football season. If you’re looking for an inspirational story about a young athlete with unshakable faith that he will walk again, then you’ll be moved by Believe.
A Big Hit with Business People!
I loved writing Networking Is a Contact Sport with Milwaukee businessman Joe Sweeney.

Joe knows everyone in the Badger State because he’s been a master networker all his life—starting with the time he was eight years old and walked into the office of Notre Dame football coach Ara Parseghian unannounced and lobbied for a scholarship on behalf of his older brother Tim.

Click on the book cover below, and you’ll be taken to Joe’s website at www.NetworkingContactSport.com, where you can order the book.

Joe tells amazing stories as well as imparting great advice on how networking can give you focus, improve your bottom line, and help you see the value of others.

Christy Award Nominee . . .

The Swiss Courier, the World War II thriller I wrote with Tricia Goyer, was nominated for the 2010 Christy Awards in Historical Fiction. Alas, we didn’t win, but we’ve gotten great reviews.

Chasing Mona Lisa Is Thrilling Readers!

My latest novel with Tricia Goyer . . . Chasing Mona Lisa . . . has been out since January 2012, and we’ve received many great reviews for coming up with an action thriller involving the world’s most famous painting.

Here’s a synposis: It’s August 1944, and the Allies are advancing on Paris. Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring realizes time is running out . . . unless he can make a play for the most famous painting in the world—Leonard da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

You’ll be kept guessing right up until the final pages—and the climax of this thriller will surprise you!

Click inside this box and you can watch a 90-second video trailer about the exciting novel.

Introducing
Mike and Chris Reis

I can’t believe how brutally honest and transparent Mike and Chris Reis were in sharing their amazing story in Recovery of a Lifetime.

Mike was dealing with heavy alcohol and sex addictions while his son was playing for the New Orleans Saints. How their stories intersect is what this book makes so special.

I loved working with these guys, and you’ll love reading their book!
